The creator of classic PC franchise Civilization will launch a brand new property later this year for PCs, Macs and the iPad.
Sid Meier and his studio, Firaxis Games, announcedSid Meier's Starships, a turn-based interstellar strategy game which will arrive as a digital download in the early part of 2015.
Players manage a fleet of starships, exploring the galaxy and building a federation to restore order, says video game publisher 2K in a statement released Monday.
Meier says Starships was inspired by an idea to explore what would happen after the events of Civilization: Beyond Earth, the latest chapter of the game designer's iconic series available last year. "My goal was to create an experience that focuses on starship design and combat within a universe filled with interstellar adventure, diplomacy, and exploration," says Meier in a statement.
