This 3D Printed Bike Tells You Where to Go

Maybe it has been the influence of the current hipster scene: the hype among urban biking.  Apparently urban biking requires entirely different bikes than suburban biking does and therefore a Bike Design Project started where five design studio’s across five cities had to come up with a perfect urban bike. The winning bike will be manufactured for a limited run of 100 bikes and will be in stores next year. Industry, a Portland-based studio came up with a very interesting bike: one that uses bluetooth and handlebars that tell you when to stop or turn.

Industry worked together with Ti Cycles to create a bike with a 3D printed titanium frame. The bike is called Solid and can connect to a smartphone app: My Bike. This app alarms a user when a light needs replacement and if something gets wrong with one’s brakes. There is also software called Discover My City, which has a series of routes through Portland’s most trendy neighborhoods, with suggestions about where to eat and shop.

Samsung hops back on Android bandwagon with printers

Summary:Following a series of product releases featuring the Tizen operating platform, Samsung has announced its first Android-powered printer range.

Samsung Australia has announced the availability of its first Android-powered printer range.
According to Samsung, the Smart MultiXpress series will include eight multi-function device printer models, all of which have been designed to operate independently without the need for a PC app.
Each printer will be powered by the Android operating system, which will mean the printers will have "great printing app scalability", the company said, similar to its smartphone technology.
Todd Lynton, director of enterprise and small medium business, Samsung Electronics Australia, said the company is committed to maximising the productivity for Australian companies.
"Our new printer line combines advanced printing technology innovation and performance with the user-friendly Android operating system to provide businesses and IT administrators with Samsung's smart office experience," he said.

Sharebox3D Lets You Share 3D Printers With Friends, Family, Enemies

The folks behind Sharebot, a simple 3D printer, have taken to Indiegogo to introduce Sharebox3D, a system for sharing 3D printers with remote users. The app, which works on smartphones and tablets, allows you to choose a model and print it just as you would print a document on a 2D printer.
The app lets you store model files (STLs) and slice them on the fly, turning them into models that a 3D printer can then print. When connected to a compatible printer you can also activate prints and monitor them as they happen via webcam and notifications.
Thus far only Makerbot has done a good job of phone-based printer control which opens a wide avenue for apps like this one. Write the creators:
