Kudos are in order for LG Electronics. Why? LG last month began doling out Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to G3 handset owners in Europe, and starting soon, the South Korean electronics company will extend the same courtesy to G3 owners in the U.S. That will put G3 owners in select company -- less than 0.1 percent of Android handsets have Android 5.0 installed.
Android 5.0 came out nearly three months ago (early November of last year), yet it doesn't warrant an entry on Google's Android Developers Dashboard, as is the case with any version of the open source operating system will less than 0.1 percent distribution. That will change as the year goes on, but for now, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.x-4.3) and KitKat (Android 4.4) are the two most popular major builds of Android at 46 percent and 39.1 percent, respectively, followed by earlier versions dating back to Froyo.
