One big change Samsung loyalists might take issue with is the now non-removable battery or microSD card slot. HTC has always hung its hat on design, so it should be no surprise that the One M9 is as luxe as its predecessors. Display tech and resolution differences are notable between the two super phones. Samsung sticks with its eye-popping Super AMOLED technology, but bumps up the resolution to 2,560 by 1,600, which equates to an outrageously sharp 577 pixels per inch. HTC shows moderation, sticking with its 5-inch, 1080p LCD, but this year's panel looks brighter than last year's. Both screens are bound to be winners, but the edge goes to Samsung.

Octa-Core : HTC Desire 826 Octa-Core to launch in India starting Rs. 22,499

Taiwanese smartphone company HTC announced its upcoming Desire 826 early this month in CES 2015. But the company didn’t tell much about the pricing of the phone. Now that the phone has launched in China, the price has been revealed.






According to HTC, the 16 GB model of HTC Desire 826 will cost CNY 2,299, which is roughly Rs. 22,600. Customers who need even more storage can opt for 32 GB model which costs CNY 2,499, about Rs. 24,500.



Anyone living in China can order the phone from HTC Eshop online. The phone will eventually make its way into India, too. It is already listed on HTC India’s website, but the availability date or pricing has not yet been revealed for Indian customers. However, people can get a rough estimate of the price of the new phone now that it’s launched in the sub-continent.

In case you need a reminder, HTC Desire 826 is a 5.5-inch full HD display phone that comes in both single-SIM and dual-SIM variants depending on the region. The powerful phone packs an octa-core processor. Of the total eight cores that the phone sports, four cores are clocked at 1.5 GHz and the remaining four cores are clocked at 1.0 GHz. The chipset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 that is 64-bit supported.

Want to quickly change the look of your home screen (and some applications) without too much work? Change the theme! In Sense 6, HTC has provided four themes to choose from. While the selection is lacking, you can change from a cool blue-green theme to something with warmer reds, purples, or even a dark grey theme.

To change your theme, simply go into your settings and hit Personalize, then tap on Themes. Select the theme you’d like to use, press Apply, and you’re good to go.

HTC Desire 816 is a Serious Upgrade For Smartphone Novice

I went to use my tablet recently and had to remove a slight layer of dust. It had accumulated ever since I upgraded my smartphone to the HTC Desire 816. This is the mid-range offering from HTC. It can best be described as large. Like, very large.

For people used to a top-of-the-line smartphone, this may not be the most remarkable device on the market, but its hardly a slouch.

HTC is ready to connect more than just your smartphone

Outside of LG’s G Flex 2, CES has been a desert for major smartphone news. Even Sony’s big Android Lollipop tease this week turned out to be a TV rather than a new flagship handset. HTC used the show to launch the latest entrant in its mid-range Desire series, the Desire 826, but otherwise it's keeping a low profile until Barcelona's Mobile World Congress at the beginning of March — just like everyone else.

That tranquility shouldn't be misinterpreted as idleness. This week, I met with Drew Bamford, HTC's chief of design and user experience, to talk about the company's plans for 2015.  Bamford had a whole slide deck prepared. Harkening all the way back to HTC's founding in 1997, Bamford walked me through the company's first two major phases — first as the manufacturer of smartphones for others and then as the producer of its own devices — before pointing to HTC's "next life," which begins this year. "2014 was the pivot to our third act," Bamford said. "The stimulus for that pivot has been a change in the environment."
