02.Think the Galaxy S6’s hardware rips off the iPhone? Take a look at its software

galaxy s6 iphone copy

From a hardware perspective, there’s been a lot of talk regarding how the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S6 borrows a lot of design inspiration from the iPhone 6. Indeed, it’s hard to look at the two devices side by side and not see a number of striking similarities between the two.
And, truth be told, that’s quite all right. Apple, after all, shouldn’t be the only company on the planet allowed to make thinner smartphones with advanced and sturdier materials. Further, it’s not as if Apple itself is shy about lifting design cues from smartphones that it itself deems to be inspiring. But where Samsung runs into foul territory with the S6 is software.
While there’s only so much one can do with the hardware design of a smartphone, software affords designers endless avenues for creativity and originality. Unfortunately, some of the software cues we’ve seen on the S6 seem to indicate that the copying spirit at Samsung is alive and well.
Below are two quick examples.

First off, we have the setup screen for Samsung’s fingerprint reader. While there’s nothing wrong with Samsung incorporating a fingerprint reader onto the S6, the design Samsung opted for during the setup process is a blatant ripoff of the iPhone.
In order to get the iPhone to recognize a new fingerprint, users must tap on the iPhone home button repeatedly. With each successive tap, an animated photo of a fingerprint grows in size as to indicate that the iPhone is successfully gathering more information about the print.
Upon completion, it looks something like this.

05.Best of MWC - The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

The Best of Mobile World Congress 2015

New flagship Samsung smartphones are obviously going to be a big deal, but this year it's even more of a shakeup than usual. The Galaxy S5 was boring and band-aid-y butthe Galaxy S6 is new, fresh and purty. No, it doesn't have a removable battery anymore, but its design has improved a ton. That, and its crazy sibling—the Galaxy S6 Edge—is a weirdo curved phone you might actually want.

09.Why Samsung decided to launch two Galaxy S6 phones? Move betrays the company’s lack of confidence

We’ve seen Apple release two variants of its iPhone 6, and now Samsung follows suit with the new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. While Apple had to up its ante and give into user feedback by churning out a larger display model to cater to a specific demand from fans, Samsung does not seem to have any particular reason for why it opted for two models.
Wouldn’t the innovative and unique S6 Edge design been more than enough for a Samsung flagship? The device has already addressed the major criticism against Samsung, which is its design. The Galaxy S6 Edge has a great design, which is bot refreshing and different. The other Galaxy S6 variant seems just futile, especially considering that there isn’t much difference in the specs except the Edge has a slightly larger battery. Both Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge sport a similar display size, camera and most other features are also exactly the same. With the design change being the only prime difference between the two models, Samsung has made it difficult for users to get their hands on the better variant by pricing it about Rs 10,000 higher than the Galaxy S6.

The move speaks of an utter lack of confidence on the part of Samsung. It says Samsung wasn’t confident enough to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge as its solo flagship model and was therefore hedging its bets.

Lately, Samsung has started losing its grip over the markets that it once dominated. From falling shares to a decline in sales and a bunch of dud flagships, the future of the company doesn’t look bright, and may well be on the same path of ruin as Nokia.

08.Android Showdown: Samsung Galaxy S6 vs. HTC One M9

How do the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 stack up? Read on for a side-by-side comparison.

Samsung and HTC are looking to bounce back following a down year for high-end Android smartphones. The monolithic Korean company lost momentum thanks to uninspired design choices, while HTC seemed content to iterate rather than innovate. A lot of that changes this year, as both companies square off once again for Android supremacy. Eager to upgrade your smartphone this year? We've got the lowdown on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 to help you decide which phone is right for you.
The new Galaxy S6 takes design critics head on with a bold new direction for Samsung's flagship phone. The chintzy plastics and awful faux-metal are banished in favor of genuine metal and glass. This year's Galaxy finally looks and feels like the premium, high-end smartphone it's supposed to be. One big change Samsung loyalists might take issue with is the now non-removable battery or microSD card slot. HTC has always hung its hat on design, so it should be no surprise that the One M9 is as luxe as its predecessors. In terms of design and feel, the S6 and M9 appear to be on as level a playing field as ever.

Display tech and resolution differences are notable between the two super phones. Samsung sticks with its eye-popping Super AMOLED technology, but bumps up the resolution to 2,560 by 1,600, which equates to an outrageously sharp 577 pixels per inch. HTC shows moderation, sticking with its 5-inch, 1080p LCD, but this year's panel looks brighter than last year's. Both screens are bound to be winners, but the edge goes to Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S6: What We Know

Picture of flagship Samsung smartphone is building up

With the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona just a couple of weeks away, rumors surrounding the Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930Galaxy S6are hotting up. The latest flagship smartphone from the Korean manufacturer will be one of the highlights of this prestigious event, and with anticipation building the number of leaks regarding this device is increasing exponentially.
This will be a particularly critical smartphone release for Samsung, as not only is the Galaxy S series considered very much its flagship smartphone – and a theoretical iPhone competitor – but the Galaxy S5 was also not particularly well received. The general consensus regarding that particular Samsung handset was that it was fairly unattractive in appearance, and represented little more than a spec upgrade from the preceding Galaxy S4.
So Samsung will be required to pull out all the stops when the Galaxy S6 is released, and there is already a significant amount of indication regarding what we can expect from this smartphone. This is all seeping into the public domain ahead of a Samsung press conference which it has scheduled for March 1.

Samsung Galaxy S6 battery seen in the flesh

The pieces of the puzzle are coming together for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship. After theExynos 7420 was confirmed as the chipset of choice, and the matter of dimensions was settled, we could now be looking at the proof of the battery capacity rumor.

The model number EB-BG925ABE of the battery units goes in line with the expected SM-925 internal designation of the upcoming flagship. A manufacturing date of only a couple of days ago adds further credibility to these images.
We witness a slight reduction in capacity, compared to the 2800mAh battery on the Galaxy S5, brought about by the constant push for thinness. However, advancements in chip technology and Google's optimized Lollipop OS, should hopefully mean that the hit in capacity won't result in poor endurance. Add to that a possible wireless charging capability and things don't look all that grim.

Galaxy S6 vs. iPhone 7: Camera Comparison

Rivals to deliver outstanding camera functionality in next-gen smartphone

Ever since smartphones first appeared on the market, one of the most important innovations included within them has been the camera. It was at one time considered revolutionary that people could carry around a device in their pockets which was capable of taking photographs, and at the same time making telephone calls and sending and receiving text messages.

Camera craze intensifies

Of course, this novelty has long since worn off, but the craze for taking photographs certainly has not. Indeed, given the overwhelming popularity of the ‘selfie’, and the growing significance of photo-focused social media sites such as Instagram and Snapchat, the importance of a smartphone incorporating an excellent camera has been if anything elevated.

Samsung Unpacked event scheduled for 1 March, likely revealing the Galaxy S6

Summary:We have two confirmed launch events on the 1st of March in Barcelona, but the details of what is coming are yet to be revealed. Stay tuned for exciting news from Spain.

Mobile World Congress is shaking up to be an exciting event for smartphone fans and it sounds like March 1st might be an overwhelming day for reporters trying to cover it all. Samsung just sent out invites for its next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, joining HTC, Huawei, and others.
While no details are being provided, the invitation image is reminiscient of the curve we see on the Galaxy Note Edge. Was the Edge a precursor to a new Samsung design element that will appear on its mass market device? Will Samsung include a curved display on another side of the phone?

Samsung will be streaming its event so you can follow all the action yourself. ZDNet's Josh Taylor will be there in Spain to bring you his perspective on the launch.

There have been reports that Samsung may not be using the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 in its next flagship. In most cases, Samsung includes its own Exynos processor in devices outside the US. Qualcomm chips were used to support the wireless networks in the US, but Samsung may be moving to Exynos across their smartphone line.

Looking to the Note Edge and Note 4, expectations are that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will include the latest generation processor, Android Lollipop, very high resolution Super AMOLED display, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, improved camera, and use of metal.

Octa-Core: ZTE Blade S6 delivers octa-core Android 5.0 on a budget

ZTE goes after a younger crowd with its Blade S6. ZTE
What has eight cores and is made by ZTE? The company's latest smartphone, the 4G LTE-equipped Blade S6. Powered by Android 5.0, it's a cost-conscious attempt to attract the younger user base.

Apart from the eight-core chipset, hardware details are par for the course. They include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 CPU with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Additionally, we find a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and microSD expansion.
As for the display, ZTE is somewhat tight-lipped on the finer details. Listed only as "5-inch HD," we might look for something at 720p rather than 1080p. On a positive note, if this turns out to be the case, it could potentially lead to longer battery life.

Does Samsung or LG Have the Best Curved Smartphone?

As Samsung and LG Electronics have released different types of curved smartphones, the industry is paying a lot of attention to competition in the curved smartphone market.
According to industry sources on Jan. 25, Samsung is expected to introduce a new model with dual curved edges as a successor to the Galaxy Note Edge. Some say that the Galaxy S6, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the MWC 2015 to be held in March, will adopt dual curved edges.
When it was launched late last year, the Galaxy Note Edge drew a lot of attention due to its first curved display. The curved display design really helped the model to stand out.
In particular, the biggest advantage of the device is that its curved edge contributes to wider use of the screen, making it possible to display information along the right edge. While watching videos or playing games, users can utilize large screens without interruption. Owing to the curved edge, they can check notifications or text messages while engaged in other activities.
LG, on the other hand, focused on the design and usage of the G Flex 2 through a display that can be bent and curved to different degrees alongside its length.
